Bronze & Kinetic Metal Sculptures Fred Spencer’s bronzes are originally sculpted in clay and then molded in silicone for the numbered runs that are needed. Seeking quality and perfection, he personally works on each sculpture during the laborious and exacting bronze casting process. Each sculpture requires two to three working visits to the foundry to add the finishing touches needed in addition to the skill, and above all, care provided by the foundry. When Fred considers the bronze perfect, the patina, or color, is added. This process is hand applied by heating the bronze and applying combinations of chemicals that control the color of the natural oxidation process. Careful attention to the patina results in deep rich jeweled colors, which become a permanent part of the sculpture. The mask is then given a clear glaze or waxing to bring out all the unique beauty of the piece. Spencer’s work has appeared in art galleries and specialty boutiques with much success. His clientele reaches throughout the United States and Canada. His unusual marionettes, kinetic sculptures, masks and creatures offer something for every taste.
